Raised by an avid antique collector, it’s no surprise I eventually chose a career in interior design. Continually learning about furniture and design from my mother was an instrumental part of my childhood. But as a defiant teenager approaching college, I thought interior design was superficial (much to my mother’s dismay). I instead chose to study painting and drawing and obtained my BFA from a small art school in Denver, CO. During this time, I took a keen interest in color theory and abstract art. After graduating, I began my career as a fine artist in a flourishing art community in Kentucky. While this phase was largely rewarding, I began to desire a career with more structure. It soon became clear that my mother was right all along. Interior design was the perfect fit for me. I began to understand how positively interior design could benefit people’s experience in the world and how my background in fine art would be the ideal complement.
In 2009, I completed my BFA in Interior Design in Nashville, TN and relocated to Asheville, NC. After gaining experience working for a local firm, I started my own business in 2014. Over the last 8 years, I have enjoyed working on numerous new construction, renovation, and furnishing projects. I find great joy in creating interiors that are visually unique and representative of my client’s personality. I love blending old with new to create spaces that tell a story and feel collected over time.
I often work alongside my husband Julian (a project manager for Jade Mountain Builders) designing and building award-winning custom homes in Western North Carolina. When we’re not collaborating professionally, we’re busy chasing around our boys, Anders and Julian Jr., and our Border Terrier, Jane.
